Frequently Asked Questions
Before you buy
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once and that’s it: no subscription, no ads and no in-app purchases. The block lists keep updating on their own at no extra cost.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. The same purchase covers the iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple Account.
Which iOS do I need?
iOS 18.4 or later, on iPhone or iPad.
Does it work in Chrome or other browsers?
No. Kyvyo is made for Safari. Safari extensions don’t work in other browsers or inside other apps.
Does it work in the YouTube app?
No. Safari extensions don’t work inside other apps, and YouTube’s video ads change all the time. That’s why Kyvyo doesn’t promise to block video ads.
Can my family use it?
Yes. With Family Sharing and Purchase Sharing turned on, whoever bought Kyvyo can share it with up to 5 people. They download it for free in the App Store by tapping their profile picture, then Purchased.
Why does Safari say Dark Mode can see webpages and my history?
Safari shows this warning for every extension that changes how pages look, and darkening means changing colors. Dark Mode does that right on your iPhone: it doesn’t store or send your pages or your history. Ad Blocker and Pop-up Blocker don’t even ask for that permission.
Do I need an account?
No. Kyvyo has no account and no server, and nothing you browse leaves your device.
What Kyvyo does
What if a website breaks?
From the Kyvyo menu in Safari, you can turn off Dark Mode, Ad Blocker or Pop-up Blocker on just that site with one tap. Every other site stays the same.
Does Kyvyo make websites faster?
On the news sites we tested, each page went from talking to 54 sites to just 7 (median) and made 55% fewer requests. How much faster that feels depends on the site and your connection.
Which block lists does Kyvyo use?
Kyvyo uses well-known block lists maintained by the community, plus its own rules for annoyances those lists miss, like Google’s AI summary. The credits and licenses are in the app, under Settings › Credits & Licenses.
Does Kyvyo hide Google’s AI summary?
Yes. Pop-up Blocker hides the AI-generated summary at the top of Google searches (“AI Overview”), so the page opens straight on the results. If you want to see the summary, turn off AI Summary in the Kyvyo menu on a Google search, or in the Kyvyo app’s settings. Cookie notices stay hidden. Google changes that part of the page from time to time. If the summary comes back, the fix arrives with the updated lists, no app update needed.
Does Kyvyo accept cookie notices for me?
No. Pop-up Blocker hides the notice without answering it, so Kyvyo never says “yes” on your behalf.
Does Kyvyo get around paywalls?
No. Kyvyo doesn’t get around paywalls or “turn off your ad blocker” walls. If a site asks, you can pause Ad Blocker on that site only.
Will there be a counter of blocked ads?
No. Safari applies the block lists by itself and doesn’t tell apps what it blocked. That’s also why the blockers never see your pages.

Where can I get help setting it up or fixing a problem?
On the support page: setup, websites that look wrong, ads that still show up, per-site exceptions, iPad and refunds.
