Support

Write to support@kyvyo.com in English, German, Portuguese or Spanish. A real person answers.

The fastest way is from the app: Settings › Contact Support prepares the email with the details we need. Before writing, it’s worth opening Settings › Diagnostics in the app and the test page in Safari: both show what’s on and what’s missing.

Setup

How to turn on all three extensions

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Apps › Safari › Extensions.
  3. Turn on the three that start with Kyvyo.
  4. In Kyvyo — Dark Mode, tap All Websites and choose Allow.
Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions: turn on the three that start with Kyvyo.
In Kyvyo — Dark Mode, set All Websites to Allow.

Safari shows a warning when you allow Dark Mode. See why it appears.

Kyvyo’s extensions aren’t in the list

The options are grayed out in Settings

This happens when Screen Time restrictions are on. In Settings › Screen Time › Content & Privacy Restrictions, turn off the restrictions and turn on the extensions. If someone else set up Screen Time, ask them.

The app says “Needs a check” for Dark Mode

Your iPhone doesn’t tell the app whether Dark Mode is on. Kyvyo only confirms it after the extension darkens a page. Open the test page in Safari: if it goes dark, everything is fine, and the app then shows On.

I use Profiles in Safari

Each Safari profile has its own list of extensions. In Settings › Apps › Safari, tap the profile you use and turn on Kyvyo’s extensions there too.

Dark Mode

A website isn’t getting dark

Open the test page in Safari: it shows what’s on and what isn’t. The most common reasons:

Websites don’t get dark in Private Browsing

Safari keeps extensions that change pages turned off in Private Browsing. In Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions › Kyvyo — Dark Mode, turn on Allow in Private Browsing. Ad Blocker and Pop-up Blocker don’t need this.

A website looks wrong in Dark Mode

Some websites use colors or images that dark mode can’t get right. In the Kyvyo menu in Safari, under On This Site, turn off Dark Mode: only that site goes back to normal. If you can, tap Report a Problem with This Site to tell us which one.

In Safari, tap the page menu button in the address bar, then Kyvyo — Dark Mode.
The Kyvyo menu: under On This Site, turn off just what's getting in the way on that site.

Automatic, Always Dark or Off

In the Kyvyo app, under Website Appearance:

The same choice is in the Kyvyo menu in Safari, under Appearance on All Websites.

Pure Black and Dim Images

In Settings in the Kyvyo app:

Both also apply to pages already open when you go back to Safari.

Turn Dark Mode on and off without opening the app

A page that’s already open changes when you switch tabs, reload the page or come back to Safari from another app.

The Kyvyo menu is gone from Safari

The Kyvyo menu lives in the Kyvyo — Dark Mode extension. If you turn that extension off in your iPhone’s Settings, the menu goes with it. To keep the menu without darkening anything, leave the extension on and choose Off under Website Appearance in the app.

I use another dark mode extension

Two extensions darkening the same page fight each other and can make the site unreadable. Keep only one turned on in Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions.

Ad Blocker and Pop-up Blocker

Nothing is being blocked

Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions: turn on the three that start with Kyvyo.

I still saw an ad

No list catches everything, and websites change their ads often. Kyvyo updates itself twice a week to catch new ads. If an ad keeps showing up on a site, open the Kyvyo menu in Safari and tap Report a Problem with This Site.

Ads inside other apps and videos in the YouTube app are out of reach: Safari extensions don’t work outside Safari.

A website doesn’t load properly, a video won’t play or a button is missing

  1. In the Kyvyo menu in Safari, under On This Site, pause Ad Blocker. The page reloads on its own in a few seconds.
  2. If that doesn’t fix it, turn Ad Blocker back on and pause Pop-up Blocker.
  3. Found the culprit? Tap Report a Problem with This Site so we can fix the list for everyone.

A website asks me to turn off my ad blocker

Some websites detect ad blockers. In the Kyvyo menu in Safari, under On This Site, pause Ad Blocker for that site only. Every other site stays ad-free. Kyvyo doesn’t get around these walls or paywalls.

A website wants me to accept cookies and won’t let me scroll

Some websites lock the page until you answer the cookie notice. In the Kyvyo menu, pause Pop-up Blocker on that site, answer the notice, then turn it back on.

The “Sign in with Google” window doesn’t appear

Pop-up Blocker hides the Google sign-in window that pops up on its own in the corner of websites. To sign in, use the site’s own sign-in button. If you prefer the window, pause Pop-up Blocker on that site.

I want to see Google’s AI summary

On a Google search, open the Kyvyo menu in Safari and turn off AI Summary under Google Search. The page reloads on its own. The same switch is in the Kyvyo app, under Settings › Pop-up Blocker › Hide Google’s AI Summary. It applies to every search, and only the summary comes back: cookie notices and the rest of Pop-up Blocker keep working.

I use another blocker too

Safari applies every content blocker that’s on at the same time. That works, but when a site breaks it’s hard to tell which one caused it. To test, turn off the other blockers in Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions and open the site again.

Per-site exceptions

Turn Kyvyo off on just one website

In Safari, tap the page menu button in the address bar, then Kyvyo — Dark Mode. Under On This Site, turn off whatever is getting in the way:

The exception applies only to that site and is stored on your device.

See and remove exceptions

In the Kyvyo app, open Settings › Site Exceptions. Tap a site to adjust it, or swipe left to remove it. Remove All Exceptions turns everything back on for every site.

Block lists

How Kyvyo stays up to date

The block lists are reviewed twice a week. The app fetches new ones on its own, with no App Store update: when you open Kyvyo and, in the background, about once a day. The date of the last update is at the bottom of the app’s home screen and in Settings › About Kyvyo.

The lists aren’t updating

Purchase and devices

Install on an iPad or a new iPhone

Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account. On the other device, sign in with the same Apple Account, open the App Store, tap your picture, then Purchased, and download Kyvyo without paying again. Then turn on the three extensions on that device.

Settings and exceptions stay on each device and don’t carry over.

Restore my purchase

There’s no restore button because Kyvyo has no in-app purchases or subscription. Downloading it again from the App Store with the same Apple Account is all it takes.

Share with family

Request a refund

Apple handles payments and refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with the Apple Account you used to buy Kyvyo. If something didn’t work, please write to us too: we’d like to know what happened.

Delete Kyvyo

Deleting the app removes the three extensions from Safari and erases your settings and exceptions. If you install it again, turn the extensions back on.

What the app’s email includes

The email the app prepares shows everything before you send it: device model, iOS and app versions, language, chosen appearance, the state of the three extensions and how many sites have exceptions. When you report a site, its address is included too. You can delete any line before sending. More in the privacy policy.

I don’t have an email app on my iPhone

The app shows the address support@kyvyo.com so you can copy it. Write from any app or from your computer.
